Doug Rose is part of the Sales Team at Chakra. He’s a jack of all trades, and a master of… all of them?
Favorite quote? “It’s so beautifully arranged on the plate – you know someone’s fingers have been all over it.” ― Julia Child
What’s your most prized possession? My father always had a camera with him when I was growing up and had the photos developed into slides. He categorized them, and now I have a full collection of our family throughout the years. In the digital age it’s rare to capture a large portion of life and have a physical image to hold and appreciate.
Do you have any hidden talents? I do like to cook and consider myself a pretty good backyard gourmet. I enjoy smoking food on my wood smoker and recently smoked some stuffed jalapeño peppers, which turned out fabulous, if I might say!
What’s one thing you’re passionate about? I have always enjoyed gardening (both vegetables and landscape). I picked it up from my father. I enjoy visiting local nurseries, and I try to remember the names of the plants and see what’s new. Trying to lure the butterflies and hummingbirds with the right plants is pretty cool if successful. It’s a lot of work especially holding the weeds at bay, but a rewarding hobby I enjoy very much.
Favorite thing about working at Chakra? Well, certainly the people I work with. We’ve been family for a long time, and we hold a lot of experiences and knowledge that I like passing on to our customers. But the biggest kick is seeing what our clients and new business opportunities create locally. I’m always amazed at the things we manufacture right here in Buffalo. I love talking with people, exploring the business landscape, and seeing incredible products.
If you could have a super power, what would it be? A bionic hip.
What famous person, dead or alive, would you want to have dinner with? Lord Stanley… I’ll bring the bottle.
What do you like to do in your free time? I have always played ice hockey and I’m on a team in Niagara Falls, composed of a bunch of average to below-average players (like me) who just like to lace ’em up and have a good time. It’s a great sport you can play well into your old age, and we have quite a few guys who prove that. It’s just about getting together, having a few beers and laughs with the boys, focusing on the little disc of vulcanized rubber, and forgetting about everything else for a few hours.
